The blockchain-based game Illuvium is about to reach an audience of millions of PC and mobile gamers thanks to its upcoming inclusion in the Epic Games Store, known for hosting highly popular titles.
Illuvium, developed by Illuvium Labs, is an interoperable blockchain game that will debut on the Epic Games Store starting November 28.
This achievement is the result of several months of behind-the-scenes work to ensure that the game meets the platform’s standards and can reach a broader audience.

In an interview before the Epic launch, Kieran Warwick, co-founder of Illuvium, described the game’s evolution with the aim of attracting a mainstream audience and complying with the platform’s legal and compatibility requirements.
“The result of these efforts has not only secured Illuvium’s presence on a leading gaming platform but has also driven the evolution of our product.”
Illuvium Will Include Three Different Genres.
Illuvium was developed using Unreal Engine 5 on the Immutable X network. Its beta release on Epic Games will feature three different game genres set within the Illuvium universe.
This includes Overworld, an open-world exploration and creature capture game reminiscent of classics, an auto battler strategy game called Arena and Zero, and a city-builder for mobile and desktop that integrates with the other genres.
Illuvium’s approach of creating separate genres and game modes aims to attract a broader audience of players.
“By launching three different games in three different genres, we have significantly expanded our potential market. The only issue is that it has taken much longer to get to this point,” Warwick noted.
Historically, blockchain-based games have faced several challenges in attracting a wider audience, in part due to entry barriers.
For example, the need for wallets and costly digital assets. Illuvium has eliminated this requirement and offers the game for free, marking a shift in focus.
Regulatory environment and concerns regarding fairness and player experience have been contributing factors to the slow adoption of blockchain games.
Additionally, the volatility in cryptocurrency and NFT markets, along with the perception of fraud, has been a concern for traditional game developers.
The inclusion of Illuvium in the Epic Games Store is undoubtedly a significant milestone in the blockchain gaming industry and could represent a significant advancement in the adoption of Web3 technology in the realm of gaming.
