Gartner Predicts More Metaverse Activity by 2026

The vice president of Gartner – Marty Resnick is predicting that people 25% of people will spend one hour in the metaverse everyday by 2026. He made these predictions via the Gartner Newsroom Page. Here are his predictions for the virtual world in the near future.

Details of Gartner Metaverse Prediction for 2026

According to Marty, there will be more activities in the Metaverse by 2026. More so, these activities will go beyond blockchain games. They will include work, shopping, education, socialization and experiment. Here is what he said:

“Vendors are already building ways for users to replicate their lives in digital worlds. From attending virtual classrooms to buying digital land and constructing virtual homes, these activities are currently being conducted in separate environments. Eventually, they will take place in a single environment – the metaverse – with multiple destinations across technologies and experiences. Enterprises will have the ability to expand and enhance their business models in unprecedented ways by moving from a digital business to a metaverse business. By 2026, 30% of the organizations in the world will have products and services ready for metaverse.”

Unlike most other opinions, Gartner sees the metaverse as a digital shared space. The purpose of this space is to converge and virtually enhance physical and digital reality. This digital space offers immersive experience is accessible through digital devices and head mounted displays. Since no one person owns this digital space, Gartner expects fungible and non-fungible tokens to power its virtual economy.

Impact of the Metaverse Activity on Other Areas of Life

Resnick also believes that the metaverse will impact how people work. With time, enterprises will provide their workers with immersive work spaces in virtual offices. Even better, these firms will not have to create a new virtual infrastructure. This is because the Metaverse also offer them a framework that they can utilize. Marty also pointed out that virtual events are fast becoming popular. As a result, businesses can key into this immersive networking opportunity.

Going forward, Gartner advises organizations to be cautious about investing in just on metaverse. Reason is that the adoption of metaverse technology is futuristic and gradual. As such, it is not yet certain to identify which virtual project will survive on the long term. Therefore, project managers should do their research and explore multiple options.
